Summer in Switzerland: advice needed?

I'd like to spend a week of biking and trekking in the Swiss Alps/Lakes but don't know where to start. I've seen fantastic pictures of the Grindenwald region but not sure it's appropriate for what I want. I have a student budget and I'm travelling by myself. Any tips? Thanks.

Yes the Grindelwald region will be nice for biking and trekking. There are beautiful places to go up to the mountains from there.
Also about the budget, although Switzerland is a very expensive place, as a student you are quite likely to get soem cheap accomodationa nd also instead of hotels, I would suggest for looking for B6B's and hostels. There are varioud special prices for students as long as you have a student id card as well.
Check out www.myswitzerland.com for details on where to go and hotels and that sort of stuff. I live in switzerland so ask me any question you may like.

You should DEFINITELY do this, although it is not cheap! I love Zermatt especially. The Matterhorn is just the most amazing site and as the whole area is a car free zone, you can walk and bike in peace without fear of being run over. Also I advise you get a Swiss card - it gives you half price on most trains. Unlike the UK, they are very reliable and clean and will get you just about anywhere you want to go. Have fun!

Try the cube hotel in Savogning, it is pretty cheap with nice surroundings just right for biking and hiking.
And it is a hotel for young people, so even if you are traveling alone you will be able to meet many people there.
