Obviously, yes. Switzerland is a federation of 26 smaller units (similarly to the US on a smaller scale), called Cantons.
This makes the political system slightly complex, because it has several layers, at communal, cantonal and at federal level.
On the legislative side, there is the Parliament, divided in two chambers: representing the population with 200 members elected in all cantons, distributed based on a pro-rata approach, and a second group of 46 representatives of the government (2 per cantons, plus 1 for half cantons).
The parliament provides the laws, and vote the President each year from among the members of the Federal Council. Note that the political power goes rather to the speaker of the parliament assembly, then to the actual elected president (who fills rather a representative place) .
From the Executive side, the Federal Council groups the heads of each of the 7 Federal Departments.

The name of the current president is Micheline Calmy-Rey,
Minister since 2003, President since 01-01.2007. She is a social-democrat party member.

to give you a simple answer, the president of Switzerland changes EVERY year on the 1st January.

the president of Switzerland is always one of the 7 members of the executive authority (Bundesrat) and will be elected by the parliament in early December.

Hi from Switzerland!

Our "president" Prime minister, is Micheline Calmy Rey. It's a symbolic title, more diplomatic. There are 7 members of the Federal Council, and each year everyone exchanges ministries, even the prime minister.

You can have a look on www.admin.ch

Yes, they have Presidents and they have 7 of them at one time. Each one holds certain powers,so one does not hold all powers.

Everybody is correct, EXCEPT that Ruth Dreyfus was the president of Switzerland about 3 yrs ago.
The real leaders are ........the PEOPLE.
The executives is mostly for representation of the country, they do not have much power like in the other countries.
