that's the Jungfraujoch, the top of Europe.
from Interlaken you have to take the train to Lauterbrunnen -Wengen - Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch with 2 train changes in Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg. the journey goes 2h17' one way.

This is the Jungfrau.
Take the train FROM Interlaken to the Jungfrau. It goes to the summit. The ride is lot less than 2 hrs. I've done it.
This a thrill. Restaurant is on the top too. Snow all year long.
DO IT !

While the journey described here is correct and something you must experience if you are planning to go there, it's actually 'japou' who is wrong about the train.
If you are starting from Interlaken, you need to change trains two times. This is because there is change in the rail guages at both places. So obviously you can't go to Jungfraujoch without changing trains. Though I'm forgetting the name of station where you change them since it has been a long time since my visit.
Enjoy! |

From Interlaken expect to pay around 100 swiss francs per person for the trip, but it's worth it, especially if you have a clear day. It's easy to get there and back, don't worry about all the changing of trains, just follow the signs and the people. It's very cool, we did it last year.
You can also go to Lucerne (much more romantic than Interlaken, it's gorgeous, great restaurants, bars, and shopping, and you can take a steamer on the lake). From there you can take the train to Mt Titlus where you can also get up to see the glaciers and mountains and walk in a glacier cave. From Lucerne you can also take the Jungfrau trip but I don't know what the price is. |

you probably mean the Jungfraujoch. I'm swiss (live in Switzerland) and have never been there, but I'm planing to go this spring. It's supposed to be great (the view - on a clear day- must be fantastic!) but it's very expensive. have fun! |

From Interlaken you have two choices
1. Take the train to Grindelwald, change there to take the train to Kleine Scheidegg, Change there to the Jungfraujoch, or
2. Take the train to Lauterbrunnen, change there to take the train to Kleine Scheidegg, then change again for Junfraujoch.
You could also go up one way and down the other. Both valleys well worth a visit. Takes about 2hr15min each way. And about 180chf return. Rail passes are available if you are going to do lots of moving around the Berner Oberland.
From the Jungfraujoch you can take a walk to the Mochjochshutte. Takes about 1 hour, hard going at 3600m, but very nice on the glacier. |
