Traveling to Switzerland?

I am a US citizen traveling from the USA to Germany. I am flying into Zurich and then driving into south Germany. Does anyone have any advice as to documents that I will need to accomplish this? I am not certain if I would need to get a Swiss visa, German visa or if I need anything at all.

Thanks,

As a US citizen you may stay without visa for tourist/business purposes for up to 90 days in a 6 months period in the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

You don't need a visa, just your US passport.

To rent a car for a short-term stay your US driving license would be sufficient. An International Driving license is only needed in Europe if the homeland license bears another language than English for Switzerland and Germany.

All US Citizens are entitled to visit Switzerland without a visa for 90 days.
This is the Swiss Policy for visiting US Citizens. You may enter if:
*You hold a Valid US Passport, or
*You hold a Military ID card (of the Armed Forces of the United States) with photo, in civilian clothes, or with a permit to wear uniform

Germany's policy is that you may remain in Germany for up to 90 days. If your stay will be longer than that, you will need to acquire a visa appropriate to your type of work/activity being done in Germany from the nearest German consulate. Members of the United States Armed Forces are not required to acquire a visa, under the NATO SOFA.

Hope this has helped,

JPJ
