It is a tough question. You do not say what nationality you are, so maybe you do not even need Schengen visa. Here is some details that should get you started.
First, find out if you need Schengen visa here:
Who Needs Schengen Visa
http://www.euro-dollar-currency.com/who_needs_schengen_visa.htm
If you do need Schengen visa, then decide what category you need. In general category C allows you to stay for up to 90 days within 6 months, so it should be ok timewise, but I am not sure if you can do internship with this visa. Call the Embassy and ask them. Here is more about Schengen visa categories:
Schengen Visa Categories

Note, your question is confusing, you say you are a valid Swiss student visa holder, and then you ask whether you should apply for a student visa of Swiss. Switzerland is now part of the Schengen zone, visa DC is for long term stays, word, etc. |

If you got an L-type residence permit which is valid for less than 4 months you may not use that to travel to other countries of the Schengen zone since the Switzerland L-permit is equivalent to a short-term type D Schengen visa.
You better apply for a Schengen type C visa which simultaneously would allow the travel to other countries of the Schengen zone.
If you hold a B, C, or long-term L permit you may also travel to the other Schengen countries visa waived for up to 90 days.

As of last december, switzerland has been included in the Schengen zone. So either of the two visas you mentioned would allow you to stay in switzerland and visit the rest of Europe.
Have a good time in swiss! |
