Switzerland is overall very safe and stable country with good economy. Zurich is know as the Best Little City. It is not too big but has a lot to do and offer. Right there is the formula for a great place to live with good quality of life!
It is not however 100% crime free, especially around some public places such as train stations, etc. |

Zurich's quality of life is great.
People are considerate and friendly. Motorists treat pedestrians as VIPs. They stop cars and give precedence to pedestrians to cross road.
The city is small and beautiful with aesthetic architecture, small houses neatly nestled on slopes, Limmat River and lake with ducks and swans, fine restaurants and bars, elegant (though expensive) shopping, especially at Bahnhofstrasse.
No ugly concrete jungle. No hustle and bustle. |

Fort Bragg, California.
Ocean, Forests, no snow ever and a high of 68 (7/08) today. No air or water pollution. River and Ocean Kayaking, bicycle and/or hiking trails that go forever, Abalone for the picking and big Salmon. All within walking distance. |

10 April 2006: The Swiss cities of Geneva and Zurich offer the best quality of life according to research published by Mercer Consulting in April 2006. Vancouver (Canada) is placed third, followed by Vienna (Austria), Auckland (New Zealand) and Düsseldorf (Germany). Baghdad, not surprisingly, is the lowest ranking city in the survey. |

High wages, low crime, excellent public transportation, political stability are the big ones.
It's a nice city and a wee bit too boring for the "bad guys" to hang out in. |

Zurich is a fairly small place, the town itself has a half a million inhabitants only. But everything is available here on a top-level world standard, no matter if jobs, culture, products or services.
There are many possibilities for recreation nearby, it's a very safe and tidy place, and even famous people can (and do) move around without bodyguards.
The public transport system is extremely well equipped, in any direction there are buses, trams or trains running in a cycle of 7, 10,15, 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the line.
Ways are short, and the Swiss building quality standard is amazingly high, although the prices for buildings and alterations are on a level you'd probably shake your head. The rents are in an acceptable relation to the income of highly qualified professionals, as the interest rate is very low (mortgages now for 3% in average).
Greetings from Switzerland, living 25 car minutes off Zurich |

I lived in Zurich and loved the atmosphere. There are beautiful parks, great restraunts, good public transportation, and nice people. I thought Zurich was a beautiful city that was clean and well cared for. The Alps in the distance made it beautiful. They have a great university and the main train station is awesome. |
