Was there ever a time in history when Switzerland was a bad and/or dangerous country, unlike it is today?

Sure it was! I only remember all the battle dates children at school over here have to learn. And, remind you, it is only safe on the surface these days. Never ever start critizising the system or you would encounter very unpleasant surprises...!!! I know from personal experience.

As Moonwalker already pointed out, there were a few wars back in medieval times. But from what I know, the country was never considered "bad". The real danger came from the Swiss mercenaries which were hired to fight in foreign armies and considered the most brave (that's why, up until today, the Pope has his Swiss Guards).

Generally speaking, the Swiss never attacked any other nation, but either fought eachother or defended themselves against foreign rulership.

The only reason I could come up with to consider Switzerland a "bad" country was that they delivered some parts for Nazi weapons during WW2. Same goes for the allegation of Swiss banks stashing money of Jews killed during the holocaust. But on the other hand, keep in mind that Switzerland was surrounded by German armies at that time, fearing invasion by the Nazis.
