I know very little about Switzerland other than two languages, tax haven, and alps. Any insights in places, food, etc... is appreciated. Ta.

It really depends on what you like to do. For a grand party like time, try another country. CH is an outdoors-type heaven. I'd agree with Bernese Oberland and Valais regions being beautiful. I think my favorite city was Luzern, then Bern and Lugano. I spent most of my time in Geneva and Lausanne, that's why they aren't on the list. They bacame more like home than vacation.
Enjoy. Try doing some hiking, or geocaching (hiking with a purpose, google it.) enjoy your trip.

Actually there are 4 languages.
Most of the sights are in the mountains and lakes
The best areas are the Bernese Oberland the Valais and Grisons. There are some intersting castles like the Chateau de Chillon on Lake Geneva. There are some wonderful mountain railways and cable car rides.

Three languages, German, French and Italian other than that it is just mountains and lakes.

Very pretty though.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you are right ! Four languages, I didn`t know about Romansch. Interesting, thanks.

Zurich is a good place to start. Several flights land at Zurich airport.

Cruise Limmat river by boat. Leisurely and pleasant.

There AREN'T any interesting places to go to in Switzerland... I always thought that a person could die of boredom on the street in Geneva and it would take them 2 weeks to notice.
