Hi, I am swiss, I was living for two years in Grindelwald...
I dont knw the rental prices, but go to burri.sports, there you can rent skis, and they also have a skiscool, ask for alex, he is an oz, you will have good fun with him.
I think in general skiing in switzerland is not that expensive, all what I heard, North America is much more expensive.
Good places to check..In Grindelwald are two different mountains to ski, one side, called kleine scheidegg is a nice tippie some good restaurants are also there. My favorite place there is the ski-mountain, called "first", good restaurant there is "schreckfeld", and on the way down to the village you will pass a bar called "muni-bar", this is the place to stop and drink a "muni-coffee"...
Back in the village, a good place is "espresso-bar" right on the main street, there are also all the locals, they can also say whats going on at the time, downstairs is the "mescalero", in the early evening a mecican restaurant, later in the evening a disco. Right over the street from this place is the hotel "eiger", where you van eat good housemade burgers....
there are also snoeshoe-tours at nighttime possible, for this you can go to "brunners outdoorshop", also in the mainstreet.....
You can also go for sledding, in Grindelwald are some good runs , also the longest sledge-run of the world, which is more then 10 km long.....
Many things to do, you did a good choice with grindelwald... |
