At this time, there have been two national votes in the past 20 years to decide whether or not we should join the EU and both have failed. Switzerland will not be joining the EU anytime soon.

Hope this has helped,

JPJ

I don't hope so we voted 2 now and we both times sad no. Wat we agreed to by now is already to much.

finestrat1
Most probably never, at least not in my lifetime. This is a question the Swiss voters have to answer by a poll, and they most probably will refuse it.
By some ageements with the EU Switzerland has "by backdoor" access to the EU.

Hopefully never!

Going Home
switzerland will never enter the EU and they are very proud of this fact. The swiss are unique people that have special rights and privileges in this world.

Switzerland has never applied for a EU membership and can therefore not join the EU at present. I guess you mean when will Switzerland start to adopt the procedures of the Schengen Agreement which provides free travel without passport controls between the member states. This depends on final approval by the European Council and is planned to start in December 2008. Please see the information attached as source.

Mr Who
It's bullshit to say that there had been a referendum held about the question if Switzerland wanted to enter the EU. We Swiss never went to the urns for this question! The two guys above mix up the facts.

Back to your question: Somewhat in the far future - nobody knows. As you just heard and as you will hear over and over again, the primitives are definitely against EU. I feel ashamed, I'm so sorry for such an arrogant attitude.
