The ones who call it Biel speak Swiss-German and the ones who call it Bienne speak French.
The ones who speak Swiss-German can generally also speak English and the ones who speak French can sometimes speak standard German.
I believe the kids can go to school in either language.
I usually go with French because I'm better at it than German.

Switzerland is the great country ,they speak two or three language fluently. the children who speak french as native language they learn german at school and the others who are swiss-german they learn french. Also they both learn english at school. They have possibility to learn italian too. In the italian speaking part, children could choose to learn french or german, or both and plus english.
