i like the shopping in Zurich, especially department stores like Manor, Coop City, Globus, Jelmoli - things that you don't see anywhere else in the world. sample the chocolate and luxemburgerli at Sprungli; the flagship at Paradeplatz has an attached cafe that is quite nice. try the bratwurst at Zeughauskeller. the Kunstmuseum (behind the Hauptbahnhof) is interesting. also the watch museum at the basement level of Beyer is really fascinating to see (even if you're not into watches/clocks). Fraumunster with its Marc Chagall stained glass is popular with the tourists. Lindenhof is a nice place to sit and just enjoy the atmosphere of the altstadt. i'd definite take the Polybahn (at Central stop) up to the viewing decks of the polytechnique school - great views all around, and the Polybahn is a neat funicular. take the train (i think S10) to Uetliberg, and you can "hike" the small mountain and get a panoramic view of the region all around.
a good thing to buy is the Zurich Card - available in 24 or 72hrs - it gives you unlimited train/tram rides within Zurich city (includes airport to the city and Uetliberg) and also free admission to the museums. |

I went up all the stairs of Grossmünster and had a wonderful view over Zürich. You can see where the lake has it's best places to be. There are some nice bars to hangout :)
And as mentioned before, the Niederdorf is always a visit worth
Enjoy your trip |

Have a stroll thru the "Niederdorf" (old town) and don't miss to have coffe/cakes at beautyfully decorated Teuscher, visit the famous Bahnhofstrasse, maybe a boat-ride to Rapperswil (charming small city with a castle) or enjoy a night at the Opera. Don't miss to try a Bratwurst in one of the street stalls. |
