When I went there, I also went tobaggoning down the mountain. (Not straight down, but criss cross along the side.) I also went to a spa. They had over 5 different temperature pools, some of them open air. So you could see the snow blowing over the mountain peaks while relaxing in the warm water... You can also go shopping (especially for traditional masks to ward off evil spirits). |

Well, in winter-time it's all the snow activities and fun around the clock. In summer to visit the lovely wineyards, nearby places like Montreux, Chateau de Chillon,Lausanne,Geneva and all year round enjoying the great food/specialities they offer. |

Well, snowboarding.
Madonna's suggestions are good but they're in Vaud (except Geneva which is its own canton).
There are some lovely hikes to be done in Valais; last summer we (my husband and daughters 7 & 11) did the tour of Les Dents du Midi, which was hard but spectacular.
I don't have any specific suggestions, but a lot of mountains in Switzerland, so likely some in Valais, have mountain-scooters you can rent in the summer.
The usual apres-ski activities, eating fondue, drinking fendant and playing cards. Brig had a cool carnival when we were there (I think it's in Valais). Zermatt has a jet-set nightlife. Train Saint-Bernards? And of course, cowfighting (not bull-fighting, it's cow-against-cow and the winner is called the queen and gets the biggest bell). |
