Go to Rapperswil nearby Zürich: a lovely, intimate village on the lake with an ancient castel plus beautyful mountains view. From there you can explore (daily by train or car) cities like Lucerne,Zürich, the Rhine-Falls,Basel,Liechtenstein,Appenzel... etc. and come back to a great spot to relax. |

Zermatt, hands down. Unbelievable travel to get there, awesome skiing, town that operates without gasoline powered cars, stone's through from rustic parts of italy and of course the Matterhorn, ski it in winter, climb it in summer. This is the place that defines what everyone thinks of switzerland. |

I highly suggest Interlaken, in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Beautiful place, and a lot to do. There is skiing, hiking, hang gliding, paragliding, canyoning, and more. Dont miss it, we loved it there! |

The whole country is what you looking for.
It depend what is your definition of leisure and fun.
Some like the clubs in Zurich other will hike in the mountains.
There are some water park that get close to a theme park definition. |

MURREN!! You take a cable car to the train station at the top then you take a mountain train to the little town itself. Its so relaxing and many things to do. You can take a day hike up the Schilthorn and take the cable car down to town again and have a nice dinner. If you are going during the winter there is a cable train that goes up to a ski resort on the other side. Last recommendation would be to stay at the Bellevue Hotel which is very nice and has a great restaurant. |

Why not go up a mountain and rent a scooter to get down? You can do this in several places, I recommend Bergun for example. |

Dear Emma, you'll never get any points with such answers! Leysin is an American dominated place, ugly as it can be, at least a two hours drive from Geneva. Geneva is not at all the Swiss capital - but Berne in the heart of the country.
As for leisure or fun in Switzerland, I mention these two main tourist regions (beside the Valais where Leysin is): Bernese Oberland (e.g. Interlaken, a tourist trap) and the Engadin Valley with famous San Murezzan or Sankt Moritz.
Don't forget, the country is small - you inhale in one corner and exhale in the other one :-) So, if you don't like it in one region, take the train and move on to the next one. Have fun, though! |
