Probably Zurich, but there's little or no sense spending time in the cities in Switzerland. I assume you mean Lucerne, that's only an hour from Zurich so unless you love trains, concentrate on the Zurich, Lucerne and and either the Bernese Oberland or Central Switzerland areas (Uri, Glarus). If you DO love trains, take the scenic route to Geneva on the Golden Pass, and then back through the Jura.

If you mean Lausanne, then it's only an hour from Geneva and I recommend the opposite: either stay in that area, see Montreux and the Chateau Chillon, take a boat on Lake Geneva weather permitting, or take a NICE train ride to Zurich.

But really, Zurich and Geneva are nice to live in but I wouldn't want to visit.

Go for Zurich...the city with the best quality of life in the world.
And don't forget to visit Zürich's old town at night

If you plan to go to Lucern, definitely include Mt. Titlis in your itinerary. It's amazing - you'll see the scenery gradually change from green forest to 10,000 ft. icy glacier as the cable cars ascend. I guarantee it's worth visiting.

Shoppingwise I'd pick Zurich (they have a lovely old part of the town there to explore.) Also the famous Rheinfall is closeby. Do you really mean Lucence (french part of Switzerland ) or maybe Luzern which is not soo far from Zürich? Of course Geneva is nice too and you can visit the nearby little Villages which produce fine swiss white wines,Cheese specialities or go to Montreux (famous for it's annual Jazz Festival etc.) Especially sightseeing depends a lot upon the season you'd like to go. In wintertime both don't offer the same as in other month's.

I would stay 1 day in Zurich, 1 day in Geneva and 1 day in a French town near Geneva called Annecy.
Everything is beautiful in Switzerland, so you can't go wrong.

Zurich is V sexy and beautiful city u should visit it babay......

The answer partly depends on what's of interest to you. Since you mentioned shopping then probably Zurich, although do take note that both cities are extremely expensive, some of the most expensive in the entire world.

If you like museums and international organizations then you may get a kick out of visiting the United Nations headquarters and other agencies in Geneva. Geneva also has a very pretty Old Town, but you can cover it in a couple of hours. Be sure to go to the tourist bureau. They'll give you lots of information for free, including maps for a self-paced tour around the city.

Zurich is definitely more lively and has more of a shopping district.

Both cities are fairly small. Do take your time with the train from one to the other. It is absolutely beautiful. Take the train through Lausanne, that way you will be riding along Lake Geneva, which is a truly breathtaking experience. I guess my point is that you shouldn't take the train at night, because it's worth taking it during the day for the sights you'll see. You may even consider getting off a train for an hour or two in Berne, which is the capital and itself a nice little town with some great museums.

2 days in Zurich & 1 day in Geneva, absolutely.
Zurich is more interesting. Also I found that Geneva (at least some parts) is noisy and dirty compared to Zurich .

In Zurich the best shopping is in Bahnhofstrasse, everything is there. Althought if you are looking for watches, then the selection is better in Geneva.

Bern is great too, maybe you could spend a few hours there on the way to Geneva. Check out the fantastic museum there:

And Lausanne has the Olympic Museum: http://www.olympic.org/uk/passion/museum/info/index_uk.asp
which was one of the highlights for our trip to Switzerland.

Zurich is a very cool city, Geneva is nice too but I love Zurich...take a side trip to Baden, it's a 15 minute train ride from Zurich. Baden is a little picturesque town with lots of shopping and fine places to eat. I lived there for 5 years and loved it!
