1. it's a lot to do, though can be done. do you realize that Zermatt and St Moritz are on the opposite sides of the country (the rest of your picks is in the center)? it takes 3 hours to reach Zermatt from Zurich (one way by train). it will also take 3+ hours from Zurich to St Moritz (also one way). there is no direct route from Zermatt to St Moritz, so you have to connect via Zurich (which makes it 7 hours on the train). if you want to see mountains, pick one or two spots: Jungfrau and Zermatt, or Jungfrau and St Moritz (not all three -- and it's quite hard to see both Zermatt and St Moritz in 7 days because of the distance between them). Luzern is 1hr from Zurich, so that's not a problem.
2. 550CHF is not a lot; you really would not be able to book hotel at this budget. hotels in Zurich is quite expensive; you could spend that much on just 2 nights in Zurich. possibly if you get an apartment for 1 week, you could pay that price. youth hostel or budget hotels (the types that share baths -- even that might be hard though) are other options.
3. train.
4. should be fine, though in the mountains, bring a warm coat because it will still be cold at 2000+ feet (snow is available at 3000+ feet).
5. that means you only get a room with bed; all the rooms on that level share the same shower/WC. whether that is convenient depends on you and if you're willing to do that to save money. |

Starwalker is generally correct - with one important exception: Sure there is a direct connection from Zermatt zu Sankt Moritz, it's the most famous train in Switzerland! It's called the Glacier Express (also: "The slowest fast train in the world"), the ride takes more or less a whole day. But I doubt if that fits in your rather limited budget, a one way ticket for an adult will cost you 147.35 Euro.
Anyway, welcome to the land of the Helvets! |
