While visiting Switzerland can i open a Swiss bank account?

I am wanting to take a trip to Switzerland. While i am there i was curious about opening a Swiss account. How do i go about this. How much do i need to open one? Thanks.

Nothing easier than that! Go to any bank, give your address and a minimal amount (usually 10 Sfr.) - and there you are! Consider, however, that costs for a bank account per year are higher than that amount. If you really want to work with your account, if you want to have a bank card (not a charge card), bring a higher amount - the higher, the better. However, high amounts (I would say from around 5'000 Sfr.) must be proven as "clean" money, otherways the bank won't accept it. This is to guarantee that no money laundering can take place through Swiss banks.

Also, remember that 35 pc of your yearly earnings are automatically deducted; you'll only get them back if you declare your funds back in your country. That way, it's difficult to hide money. On the other hand, if you later buy shares (not a good idea right now...), they remain untouched by the tax man if they go up in their value.
