Why does Switzerland's internet sites end '.ch'?

I don't see the relevance.. compared to most other countries who use (the first) few letters of their name.

I'll be spending the next 5 months in Swtizerland so just wanted to know!

That's because in switzerland, we have 4 languages, and because we don't want to prefer a language, we use the latin name of switzerland (confoederatio helvetica), wherever it's possible, and ch is the abrevitaton of confoederatio helvetica

nudle_2
It stands for Confederation Helvetia, Helvetia is the old name of Switzerland

The CH symbol is composed of the initials of our name in Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica.
For information the initials CH is also the symbol of Italian province CHIETI.
HAVE A NICE JOURNEY IN SWITZERLAND.

Servette
You will see "CH" on all motor vehicles license plates.
It is the latin name of Switzerland : "Confoederatio Helvetica"
also call Helvetia (still written on the stamps).
check wikipedia as well
