You response was extremly hepful. I will have to see what I can do there - it's a pity about the boat trip on the lake as this operation finishes at the end of October......
Knowing my luck I will probably end up sitting around the airport for the whole day....I hope not but then I am not having much luck lately.

You might visit the "Kunstmuseum" (Artmuseum) for an hour and then stroll thru "Niederdorf" which is close-by (the old city of Zürich). They have lovely old and historical houses and small side streets. The famous Bahnhofstreet might be too busy since the X-Mas shopping will be in full swing. Also the Fraumünster church with it's Chagall and Giacometti windows or the really nice Zürich Zoo are worth a glance. |

ZUrich on your own in Nov can be extremely boring. You could try a ride on the lake. There's the church of Fraumunster in the centre which has some nice stain glass windows by Chagal. There's the Grossmunster where Zwingli the reformer was priest. The university is interesting. There's the Reitberg Museum famous for its collection of oriental art. |

in Zurich you have the embarrassment of choice: visit musés, shopping, strolls at the edge of the lake. You can discover this city, winner of the award "City of Best quality of life", in a two hours, in guided tour, why not? Have a walk through the Bahnhofstrasse. It's very beautiful an there are a lot of shops there. Then you can also go by foot to the lake. I you have enough time you can visit a museum
