Ireland and northern Ireland are two different places, Ireland hasn't been part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland since WW1.
Great Britain=England and Wales, Scotland.
UK=Great Britain and N Ireland.
To the person who says their English, it's Northern Ireland not Island, also both Scotland and N Ireland have devolved parliaments and aren't governed from England |

I think lots of people here don't know what countries make up the UK. On my last trip to Scotland I noticed that I had to explain to a few people where it actually was. Most people know, but I think more people than you would think are not aware that the UK is made up of four different countries.
It goes both ways, too. My cousin from the UK had to visit Los Angeles on a business trip and his mother asked me if it was close to where I lived in New York. Umm, no it's two thousand miles away. Then when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans my UK family called to make sure we were alright.... 1300 miles from where the hurricane hit. |

I always say Britain and I'm British. I suppose it's like what most of us British do for America, we think of North America.
To be honest, I'm not 100% sure of what makes up America,( is it Canada, S America, N America, and Mexico????) and if I'm not sure what makes up America I can hardly expect Americans to know what makes up Britain......=] |

Well I say "England" or "Scotland" or "Ireland". I refer to the place by the country's name. Sorry if that's wrong or make you angry. |

We obviously now that Britain is more than England, but for me I do think of that more often than not. Just like when people think of America or a state like California they think of Los Angeles not Lemon Grove, La Mesa or another smaller city. |

Yes, I think of Britain and England synonymously, Though when I hear the UK, I think of England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and all of the other lands that the Brits have enforced their will and rule upon that have not yet been able to win their freedom. |
