There's an amazing chicken and chips takeaway that's reasonably priced in Leicester Square just opposite Burger king and next to Hagen Daaz. Get your takeaway and relax in the square, I do it every time I go to London. Plus there's a Ben and Jerry's ice cream takeaway for desert. mmm

DEFINATELY do Covent Garden....amazing shops, great market, great places to eat, good strret shows....WELL worth a visit!

I would suggest the London Eye (look up the sunset time and get a flight 15 mins before .. it will take you up at dusk and bring you down in the dark so you can see all the lights !!) / London Dungeons and Tower of London .. all very cool ..

You could also do Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square as they are as representative of London as you are going to get ..

There are SO many places in London to eat it is difficult to know where to start but two personal favourites are Tower Tandoori (near tower of london) and Citrus (near Green Park).

visit the parks and gardens the open air market and eat a pack up outdoors or if you are wealthy go on the eye and look at an arial view of london take in a show visit all the best sjhops see ashow go to the revolving restaurant and have a ball wish i could be there

Might I suggest that you go to Westminster Pier - underneath 'Big Ben'. and take a river trip down river to Greenwich. You will pass by all the 'sights of London' and the boat crew give a comentary on what you are looking at and some of the hisory of the building etc as you pass by.

At Greenwich pier - just beyond the 'Cutty Sark' there used to be a restaurant which was quite decent. Alternatively there is a 'greasy spoon' kiosk right by the pierhead.

You can then visit either (or both) the Maritime Museum or the Greenwich Museum (at the top of the hill - inside Greewich Park).

I think u can start from London Eye,then river Cruise to Greenwich and back,then Buckingham Palace,crown museum,big Ben.....all are in walking distance.....

Eat anywhere on the way,there are many restaurants from where u can choose

There are so many things to see and do,its what kind of things you like. There are so many show's to see,you have the london eye which is has amazing views of london,if you like street humour covent garden is good,street entertainment is funny or there are museums and landmarks, have fun but beware of pick pockets especially on the underground trains keep you bags safe and closed

So many things to do.... I would visit the ICA (Institute of Contempory Art) on The Mall which overlooks Buckingham Palace and St James Park. It is brilliant there, a very large space with so much going on, art, cinema, music, great food and coffee... make sure you go upstairs to the beautiful function rooms (the most expensive function rooms in london).

Then take a long walk through Londons most lovely park, St James, stopping at Buckingham Palace (you can pay quite a lot to go inside and look around, or just walk around the outside for free, just as good if you ask me).

Probably time now for a drink at one of Londons coolest bars, few people know about it- The friendly Society, in a basement under Ann Summers at the end of Old Compton St. It is genuinely friendly which is a novelty in london, and the decoration, furniture and lighting is amazing. It is a mixed /gay crowd- as all the best places are.

Then dinner in China Town, as cheap or expensive as you want it to be...
Then go and see a show- the all new Chicago musical will be on then, i would go to that, but what ever you two fancy. If you havent booked your tickets yet, get the best price possible by buying them in the white hut in Leicster (sp?) Square last minute.

Go to the theatre to see a West End show and then go out for a posh meal at The Ivy or Nobu.

Definitely the London Eye.

Visit Harrods as well in Knightsbridge. It's worth a wander round. Particularly the food halls.

best way to cram as much in as poss, is if you stay in town(central london) as everything is within walking distance then.
so, you sightsee in the morning(london eye, buckingham palace, houses of parliment,), have lunch(china town or posh restaurant - if you like dimdums try 'Ping Pong', its agreat restaurant just down Great Marlborough Street,soho), then go do a spot of shopping (of course you gonna wanna do selfridges and even hamleys - biggest tot store in the world!), then after all that and if you have any energy left, go hit some clubs/bars!

Get an overview with the London Eye. If this is too expensive for you (and the flight tickers ARE expensive) - go to the Monument of the Great Fire at Monument Tube station, climb up 331 steps for onyl 1 to 3 pounds, have a wonderful view and get a certificate afterwards.

DON`T go into London Dungeon, Madame Tussauds and other tourist traps for a lot of money. St. Pauls Cathedral is worth to spend money for, if you wanna get a nice view from the tower and you like churches.

If you wanna see London - go to Covent Garden or even better Camden Town with the markets at Camden Lock. If you have 45 min to relax -- take the narrow boat on the Regents Channel from there to Little Venice (near Paddington Station) and get an impression of a completely different London.

Start a footwalk at Westminster tube station to see Houses of Parliament/Big Ben, go up Whitehall to Hourse Guards (their changing is every morning at 11am) and walk through St. James Park (wonderful park with squirrels, flowers, and a lake) to Buckingham Palace. DonÂ´t take too much time to watch the changing of the guards there at 11.30am and go down PallMall to Trafalger Square. If you donÂ´t rush too much - you need about 1 to 1:30 hour for that.

If you are in London during night time .. look at Tower Bridge in the dark - itÂ´s even more impressing than at daytime. DonÂ´t waste time and money at the Tower, if you are only there for one day.

St Paul's Cathedral
across the Millenium Bridge
Tate Modern Gallery
walk along the South Bank
cross Hungerford Bridge
along Northumberland Avenue to Whitehall from where you can get to Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, St James Park and Buckingham Palace
Trafalgar Square with the National Gallery & National Portrait Gallery
along the Strand past the Savoy Hotel & Covent Garden
along Aldwych and Holborn past the High Court
back to St Pauls

This is a circular route so you can start at any point, if you get a oneday travel card you can get buses between Westminster, Trafalgar Square & St Paul's if you are tired or short of time.

Tate Modern, St Pauls. The Globe theatre and London Musuem all fairly close together if you have a cultural bent.

Sometimes I like to go to a posh restaurant for lunch. Try the Connaught Hotel. This is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant but is head cheffed by Angela Hartnett. The food is FANTASTIC and is capped at about Â£35 per head. The wine is expensive though. If it is a special day you can afford the best.
If you are really stuffed afterwards go to the cinema for a couple of hours in Leicester Square to wait til the food goes down.

The London eye is great...you get to see the whole of London, and if you book a special flight you get champagne with it.

Also Oxford street is great for shopping.

Piccadilly has HMV, the Trocadero and Planet Hollywood and its not to far from Leicester square where there is the Odeon cinema

Take a walk along the river thames around canary warf area, get a nice feel for London and beautiful view of river.

book a ticket for the London eye,,,,, best at sun set,,,,, than go to covent garden have lunch,,,,, visit Buckingham palace and back to the London eye,,,, you can than go to Lester square for a coffee or you can choose the exotic Soho for a Chinese dinner.
