Of course this depends on what you want to eat! Stock up at breakfast in the hotel and then eat fruit for the day.
An evening meal can vary but if you are in the East End of London at all, try the Vietnamese resturants on Kingland Rd (Hoxton). The take your own wine restaurants are great and it is almost impossible to spend more than £10 per person - get the tube to Old Street and then walk east down City Rd to the main junction at Shoreditch High St. Alternatively, you could head to Brick Lane for a curry - average cost about £12 with wine. Take the tube to Liverpool St and then head directly east past Spittlefields (ask anmyone for directions).
If you don't want to come east then head to Shepherd's Market close to Green Park and Hyde Park where there is a great Turkish restaurant that is relatively cheap. You should be able to eat there for under £15.
However, if all of this is out of your price range then there are lots of noodle bars - average cost £6.
Enjoy! |

Depends where you go!
There are fast food places everywhere plus you can buy sandwiches from supermarkets etc. Depends on what budget your on. There's no reason for it to be more expensive than anywhere else! |

Druantiauk and angarch83 have given good answers. For lunch from a sanwich shop, you've got to allow £5 - £7.50. You can get dinner for £10 - £15 in some big restaurant chains or small non-chained resturants. However, be prepared to pay £25 to £30 for dinner. For snacks, allow £3 -£5. These are central London prices but to be honest, I don't think it gets that much cheaper if you are in the London suburbs. |

Depends what you're after:
If you're planning on dining out morning noon and night, then it can get quite expensive, when really there are ways you can save and eat well.
First things first: head over to a local supermarket, be it tesco's or sainsbury (but avoid M&S, they're pricey):
You can get good pasties, vegetables and fruit, snacks, sandwich fillings to suit your taste, and all for cheap prices:
for 20 pounds you can get a week's worth of vegetables, loads of snacks, and stuff for sandwhiches. That way, you can have a great breakfast for the cost of a coffee, or avoid 3 pounds sandwiches for ones you made that taste much better.
You can also look up "all you can eat" deals around town, that will set you back 5-7 pounds, but are great value for money.
Also, there's Timeout's cheap eats guide, but just remember that what they call cheap is under 20 pounds per person per meal.
Before I was living here, whenever I'd come and stay, I would spend *altogether* (including tickets for stuff and a little bit of shopping) less than 40 pounds a day, and food was never a problem. |

It depends. If you are eating out all the time in restaurants it can get expensive. If you nip to the local Tesco express and make sandwiches or buy them it'll be cheaper.
You can get bento boxes and take away sushi for around £5 at the Japan Centre in Picadilly Circus.
You can get rice plus two dishes for under £10 at many restaurants in China Town off Leicester Square.
There are some great Chinese restaurants in Greenwich. Big plate of rice and meat, or veg for £3.50.
Some bistros in St Martins Lane do pasta from £5 - set menu from £7-£11and really nice sandwiches ranging from £4.
Snacks can be bought at street vendors for £2-3 - could be stir fry, burgers etc.
Going to a Tesco or Marks and Spencers shop is the bes way toget cheaper sandwiches and snacks though. Don't eat out all the time.
I suppose you can eat for between £15 and £30 if you're not cooking your own. |

Go to a Wetherspoon pub - you should be able to get a reasonable lunch for about a fiver. You can use this link to view their menus and to find the one nearest to you - I'm not a shareholder! http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/food/ |

As someone who lives and works in London, I would advise anyone staying here to take a good food and drink supply in a backpack, bag, etc. Prices vary depending on where you eat, but per person lunch on average would be about £5-7.50, dinner would be about £10-15, and a snack would be about £3-5, all prices are on the assumption you're eating in a restaurant or coffee shop in Central London. It's slightly cheaper for take-aways, but not much cheaper. Bear in mind it's one of the most expensive cities around, and if you need to use public transport in London, you won't have much money left to eat, I can assure you! Hope this helps. |
