I like American accents...specifically from Pacific Northwest. The pronunciation seems very distinct, and sounds like the news anchors on MSNBC.

This is off subject a little bit, but I was told by a few people from the middle east that learning English from Brittish is easier because Americans speak too fast. I thought that was interesting. But If you go to Eastern part of USA, they do speak faster than those who live in the South. Those in Pacifc Coast...especially in South (like California), have a lot of slang. It's really different depending on what part of the country you are.

Yes. Most people in the UK love American accents and they usually smile whenever they hear it spoken. Don't be fooled by some of the answers in here. lol :-)

I dont understand why Americans adore the British accent because what you hear on the TV is not how we speak, we dont all sound like the Queen or Hugh Grant!

I love the american accent! I love all accents though, makes people who they are and I love being able to identify where people are from through their accents and being able to talk to them about the places they are from. Its mad how quickly you can pick up/lose an accent. My best mate moved to Canada five years ago and you can barely tell she has an English accent any more!

It seems that most people its not an issue.

There are many British accents, Most Americans seem to be refering to the "Oxford English" accent when they speak of dialects. I personally prefer the many east coast accents of New England.

I am an American from the north (Ohio)--I have been told by people from the UK that my accent is great...but that they dislike the southern drawl.
I enjoy all the various UK (and Ireland) accents!

I love hearing a British accent. (I know there are many different ones, but they all sound great to me.) have a southern American accent (south Georgia) and during my two trips to the UK, most people seemed to like to hear me talk. It was a terrific ice breaker and helped me meet locals, especially in the pubs!

I can't speak for the majority, but I have a friend, Alfie, from England, and he loves my accent...and I am from the south.

3 Dogs & A Toddy!
My friend in school had moved over from the UK and she said her parents hated the way some people around here talked. But then again, I live in New England and anyone who's been here knows that New Englander's have a funny way of dropping "r"'s (Lobstah anyone?) and throwing them in where they should be (can I get a glass of soder? Hey I've got an idear! Would you like to drawr a piccha?). I am from NY and it drives me nuts! So I feel their pain, they didn't mind people who spoke english with all the letters in the right place though :-)

No - they generally sound 'whiney' and patronising and people from the south generally sound a little dim.

~confused~
i've never heard of anyone adoring british accents, i think americans admire all accents of all cultures

Atom
I can't stand british accents -- what they call PURE English. Give me a break. Kaaaah!

Love the people, though.
