I am British and I am married to an American Citizen. We live in the UK now. Ive only met one unfriendly American............ my sister in law in Texas LOL.

Yes, America is a lot more violent than the UK I lived in Texas for a short while and witnessed many things you would not see here in the UK. But as a country as a whole, its a great place. I came home because I couldn't stand the humidity of Houston and the diet was slowly killing me LOL.

I am happy to return often for vacations.

PS: I have travelled all over the US not just to Houston Texas. I am planning to visit ever state eventually! I've done 10 so far.

Not really...since most people liked it enough here to move here permanently.
Right now, I think most of the anti-American sentiment in the world ties directly to George Bush. Except for the islamic wackos...they always hated us for supporting Israel too much.

Kay Neine
US americans are the most polite ppl i ever meet.

I am a german

Katya-Zelen
I disagree actually. I'm English and I'm not really keen on a lot of aspects of America but I would disagree that they are unfriendly. Of course, there is crime. There's crime everywhere. Your friend has formed a bad impression but it's not really true.

Unfortunately crime happens in every country. Tourists get robbed or worse in any country of the world. It is easy when you are struggling to assimilate into American culture to lump home sickness, fear or the unknown and truly unfortunate things that happen to you together in on big mess. I mean this sincerely I am glad your friend had a place to go back to where she would be more comfortable. The mistake most immigrants make is not understanding that with freedom comes extreme personal responsibility. Many immigrants have to take one step back in their station in life until the opportunities in America become accessible to them. It sometimes seems harsh. American immigration is not for the Timid.

vamos
im german and a lot of germans think that americans arent friendly cause of the iraq war...but i think that was just a reaction of the american government and not a reaction of the people!
so i like america and i know a very friendly guy living in seattle...

Jenn
I don't believe people should assume on one expeiance. I know alot of people who have stereotypes against New Jersey, and I met five guys from there and they were the nicest politest guys I'd ever met... like EVER.

I know people who've said that they've came to england and found people rude. I've heard bands say they've come to england and the fans are more polite then american fans. It varies really.

sikla_of_dragga
i have to ask what city they were in....cuz that matters. They only got a slim part of america cuz most parts arent like that. But most ppl see us as trying to fix other ppls problems too much and need to work on ours.

stranger
Let us first declare that :
American ppl is differ than American politics .....that mean that american ppl is so so friendly and helpfull even to travellers (strangers scared any ppl any where ) but we sure object american politics in many issues .....I am a moslem engineer ,i have been in USA many times and i really love and respect those ppl .....i just wanna say this

Ms Bleu
I think it really depends on where you go. In general, I've noticed that requests or orders e.g. like food in a restaurant sound more like demands. The word 'please' doesn't seem to be used as frequently as in the UK. On the whole, Americans are friendly as long as you don't talk politics.

i find americans on the whole friendly, but you have this attitude that you own the world, or want to, you come across as arrogant, and rude, once you all realise this, and stop electing dick heads as presidents you will improve on the perceptions of the world.

I beleive that people are going to be friendly or unfriendly anywhere you go in the world. Its not perfect, its a matter of the right place at the right time. That would be the same as a crime, it does happen, some places less than others.

antym13
I have a friend who lives in England, he says most Londoners dislike Americans. It's this stupid war.

Purple Monkey Refridgerator!
Because America is in a stupid war right now, so people hate it for that, and Americans aren't so nice towards travelers. I Like America BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T
