I often wish the UK still had the death penalty...seeing that the murder rate now is MANY times what it was in the 50s when hanging was still an option. Good on you, you sensible states that have still got it, although someone should be excecuted within a month, not be on death row for years.

Best transport system ???? Which part of the UK are you in to think that!

Gridlock!

You missed of the fact we have Doctor Who though :)

You should go and live in France or Germany to find out how much better health and transport REALLY is , without black cabs or red buses .So sad.

I am English and moved here to France some 8 years ago and also worked for the US government :- Bu11sh1t.
OK the medicare in France knocks socks off of the NHS we went to see my mother in hospital, it was not filthy but it was not "cleaned". Transport, here the trains are on time clean and cheap and the city tram systems make say Nantes to Bristol comparison look decidely sick we have free parking at the tram terminii, they cost 90c for a journey they run every 5 minutes. Taxis, no comment, red buses, werent they all sold!! and many were 40 years old. As for pig bladder kicking, well frankly I have a wall of wet paint compared with the small percentage of persons who, without violence, watch it then frankly no.
When we come back we also notice:- bouchon du traffic, cameras, violence, dirty hospitals, graffiti, road cones. On TV we get stupid football interupting drama. Oh wake up, the ship is sinking.
Addendum we pay no road fund tax, our diesel is cheaper, we have a choice of hospitals, our roads are not crowded, our air is cleaner.
Now you know why we moved to France.
Accept it all countries have problems, find out the one that suits you and go for it.

Nightmare
They don't give a damn.

First off, we have no desire to go back. Secondly, I hardly believe that you carry any desire to have us back.

Don't tell my boss I'm on here
Best transport system in the world?

Funny that. For a while there it seemed that all the Brits wanted to be Irish .... now they want to be british again.

Ain't fashion a hoot!

No way! Free health care? From what my UK relatives tell me, you need to have private health insurance or else you get in line to have a procedure and take the risk that you wont live long enough to have it done. My uncle in the UK almost died waiting three years for a routine prostate surgery. My father in the US was diagnosed with the same issue at the same time, he had surgery that week completely paid for by medicare.

You also neglect to mention the extremely high tax rate. Personally, I would prefer to pay less taxes and buy my own private health insurance.
