Personally, I loved touring Scotland - we took a tiny two-berth caravan, right up the West Coast; drove for a morning, parked up for two nights, to explore by foot and car, then repeated this exercise, taking in Skye and Inverness Finally parked up at Edinburgh (husband was working for a week at the naval base and came back to the caravan each night, while I went into the City and explored) then back down through the middle.
The midges in June/July were a big problem on the West Coast esp around Oban.
Fabulous holiday - ate lots and lots of fabulous fresh fish, kippers and shellfish. Places to visit are too numerous to mention - get an atlas and just follow the roads round choosing places of which you heard. Next time you go - pick places of which you haven't heard.
Be careful of the sun - Pitlochry is the only place in the world where my shoulders blistered in a strappy dress and we went up into the Cairngorms to play in the snow and cool off, then swam in an ice-cold loch at the bottom. Bought trout from a trout farm and cleaned and cooked them within minutes of getting them back to the caravan
Undoubtedly a very memorable holiday. |

i live a few miles from Ayr on the west coast. if you like the beach then you`ll love Ayr beach. its the nicest one around. try going to visitscotland or southayrshire websites, they have lots of stuff on them.
Ayr also has a great nightlife.

I'm not sure, there may be something online you can see where there is.
And don't listen to the first two posts... not that they are much help anyway. |

Well I live there. Send me a message if you want more detail but I suggest the following
1. The West Coast
2. Clyde Islands
3. Mull Of Kintyre
4. Oban
5. Up Loch Lomond and head towards Inverary
6. Ayr, Burns Country
I'm into walking and cycling and I love it except for today when it rained. |
