Ignore most of the answers so far - it just shows the ignorance of some people.
I live in Ayrshire and from here I can already see the snow lying on Goatfell on Arran, just twenty five miles away.
However, there is not yet enough snow to do any winter sports. The season usually starts in December and continues to early March, depending on the weather.
The main winter sport areas are the Highlands and the Grampians. Areas such as Aviemore, Glen Shee, Braemar and The Lecht come readily to mind. You will get links to these areas from the VisitScotland website.

5 November .With the cold weather over the last week , skiiers and boarders were out early on the slopes . There were runs on the Cairngorms ( Aviemore ) The Lecht , Glenshee and Nevis .November a bit early but a good start . Apart from Aviemore , Glenshee is good and you can stay in Braemar ( on the north side or Blairgowrie on the south ) |

yes, you can ski and snowboard in Scotland, despite what some might say. i think the season last from around now until March. Like the last guy said, Aviemore is probably the best known, but i think there are a few places in the Cairngorm mountain range. If i remember correctly there is a ski resort at Fort William. |

The ski season started last weekend, a bit earlier than normal thanks to early snowfall.
The season normally lasts until March/April but is dependant on snow falling.
Try Glenshee, The Lecht, Cairngorms. |

Season not guaranteed these days wot with global warming. Very variable conditions between November and April, even have to call on the day re visibility and wind.
Lots of other outdoor stuff to do though, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, rambling, outdoor pursuits, ceilidhs....
Glencoe, Ben Nevis Range, Lochaber Outdoor Capital of the UK. |
