Lived on the Southside for seven years - now living in a hamlet in rural Ayrshire.

I agree that there is a lot of uninformed, bigoted, biased opinion written about Glasgow.

Take just the architecture - walk along a street like Union Street and look UP, above ground level - look at the ornate style of building legacy that we have - it is fantastic.

Yes, parts of the city are still "rough", but there are parts of Bradford, London, Bristol (to name just three), through which no sane person would venture during daylight hours, let alone in darkness!

Those of us who truly know Glasgow need to make it clear that views such as those of "fender" are rants, not the truth.

I'm in Bishopbriggs, where I've lived all my life. It's uncommon to find people on Yahoo Answers that come from Glasgow.

The city is now the murder capital of western Europe. In the first three months of this year, 18 men, women and children were murdered, pushing the homicide rate to 9.4 per million of the population - twice as high as London, and greater than Manchester, Belfast and New York.
Yes, Glasgow has trendy restaurants, sushi bars and shops, but it also has the lowest life expectancy in Britain and proportionately more murders than anywhere else in western Europe. Seventy per cent of people in Glasgow live in publicly owned houses, not in trendy loft apartments.
