Yes ... British citizens now apparently need a license to f**t these days Whereas immigrants who don't speak a word of the Queens can get a nice 3-bed semi and a fistful of benefits every week to live on, half of which gets sent back to their native country. That's really good for our economy isn't it?????

The UK is also made up of the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish; not just 'Englsh'.

In answer to your question, not all the time. It depends on circunstances, such as asylum seekers (who cant work, it would be illegal for them too), or EU or Commonwealth immagrints (they can work and so pay taxes).
Many asylum seekers end up working as toilet attendants in clubs for £1 a night. That is not good treatment.

Nice name Yorkshire!

It was probably a Polish barman, yes?

I don't think its a second class thing.... if you've got a noticeable Yorkshire accent - I'd have probably given you a free drink too!
It's something about 'tribe' loyalty......

champagne
In many cases i believe they do.

Boy but the "poor me" racists are out tonight! Yorkshire said it - it's a tribal thing and why are you all spoiling for a lynching over an everyday occurence - where the guy favours the blonde, the local (yokel) favours the local,... ageism, class, colour...

It's endemic and will never change so learn to live with it and try to remember all the times you benefit too. I can't see someone escaping from persecution and torture (don't any of you Alfreds watch the News or read the REAL papers?) or abject poverty or just looking for a better future which involves working for a living (strange concept to many of the indiginous I know) thanks to modern transport and politics, wanting any more than to survive and dream of prospering in our hostile country. Couldn't be bothered asking re Brits and Irish (coincidentally for purists there IS a Newcastle in Ireland too) who can't wait to make their fortunes (not merely survive with their lives) in Europe, Australia and America.. and anywhere.

It is not just the English, but all Brits get treated as 2nd class people in the UK !

Do you realize the UK is a very large place, and you can't make generalizations like that? It was one bartender, not a whole country, he should have asked why they got a discount.
