Are the Edinburgh ghost walks any good? What about the Mary Kings close walk?

Haven't been on it myself. But I have heard from plenty of freinds that it is a must do in Edinburgh. My freind saw a man standing in the corner of one of the rooms, thought he was part of the tour because he was in costume. In fact, it was a real spirit - no one else in the room had seen him!!

Another must do is the 'Covenanters Prison' where is is a vicious poltergiest - supposed to be Judge George MacKenzie, who sent thousands of Covenanters to the gallows. This activity has only begun a short time ago when a tramp fell through a hole in the prison and destroyed his tomb. People faint, get bruises, scars and punched - he is not very nice at all.

Im Scottish, but like many, never took time out to see what attractions were on my own doorstep, so me and my man booked into a guest house for 3 days, (The Mardale, i recommend it 100% for price, location and food, £40 a night for 2 people inc full breakfast, 14 mins walk from The Royal Mile) and had the best time, the Mary Kings Close tour was very interesting and a very eerie place,(i recommend it). The Ghost walks are informative and entertaining and The Edinburgh Dungeon is a total laugh, and a walk round the lovely Greyfriars Kirk, where you will see wee Greyfrairs Bobbys grave. Pick up a free brochure from Tourist Information and it will show you the many tours, places to visit, eat and drink. I thoroughly recommend The Royal MacGregor halfway down the Royal Mile, for a fantastic, well portioned meal. And you must go to The Frankenstein Bar, its an experience. And as always, you'll find it a very welcoming and friendly city. Please Come Visit, And enjoy!!

Hi Supernova

Yes, they are super duper frightened this wee hedgehog that much I was in a ball for a week afterwards.

Mary Kings close is okay however take the tour that leave at night from side of St Giles.

I'd say they aren't that good because ghosts don't exist. They are fictional beings that someone thought up to scare people. On the other hand Edinburgh is a nice place to visit with some great architecture and history. P.S. If someone can give scientific proof that ghosts exist I'll retract what I said above.

Yeah I've been on one & it was a bit of a laugh, plus they actually tell some interesting facts.
Worth a look

If you want a scarey night just go into any bar and look at the locals.

The mercat tours are really good and one of them is actually very frightening. That one takes you into vaults that were discovered by mistake by students a couple of decades ago. The Mary King's close one is entertaining but a bit touristy!
