It's not as bad as everyone says. There are good shops there and Strathclyde Park is on your doorstep. It has easy access to Glasgow and Hamilton.You would be better finding somewhere to stay outside Motherwell, there are lots of nice villages nearby.

Motherwell is an employment blackspot. After the Ravenscraig steelworks were closed, the local labour market was engulfed with the unemployed. It became an employers dream - they could pick and choose.

The closure of the steelworks brought other closures, especially those businesses whose livliehood depended on Ravenscraig. There has been only minimal replacement of these industries, leaving Motherwell as a commuter town rather than a seat of industry

But, there are a number of other places where you might consider working all within short commuting distance. Motherwell is well placed within the Glasgow suburban rail network.

Glasgow is the obvious choice, but you should also look at Cumbernauld and East Kilbride. Other possible areas are Hamilton, Coatbridge or Airdrie.

Widen the geographic search area when next on the internet and then see if the job is worth travelling to the location.

I dont think there is really much to say about motherwell....... I live in East Kilbride, about 10 mins away. its a little town with not much going on....... but its a short journey from Glasgow city centre which is a whole different story :)

depends what part of Motherwell as lots of areas come under Motherwell post code and what you like to do. There is Strathclyde Park, Time Capsule, Carfin Grotto. Matalan Warehouse, Pubs. clubs and a few hotels - You might be OK working there but I wouldn't want to live there, the choice is yours.
