There's a Netto in Cheetham Hill - in fact, there's also one on Stockport Road (or there maybe another, as it's 7 miles long), There's an Aldi on the corner of Great Western Street/Wilmslow Road - there's also one in Harpurhey...you students have got it easy-peasy now!
