There's nothing like what you describe, most of the former resorts are a bit "past it"now.

Saltcoats, Arbroath, etc spring to mind.

Aberdeen does have a seedy area near their ( freezing) beach where you can go on fairground rides, eat pizza and ice cream etc. But I could not recommend Aberdeen.

Leven, Lundin links, there are a lot of beaches especially on the west coast and Fife area.

Aberdour (Silver Sands) - absolutely beautiful. :-)

There are plenty of beautiful beaches but not specifically beach destinations. You'll never find anywhere like Blackpool in Scotland (maybe 40 years ago but not now).
If you are looking to visit a stunning beach the western isles have some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. If you are looking for a blackpool style atmosphere you just ain't going to find it! Plus it would probably be cheaper to go to Benidorm!
