We have multitudes of pound shops all over the uk

As well as the above answers just remember that over here the price that is on the goods is the price you pay...the tax is already added into the price, not like in the States where it's a dollar advertised but then you pay tax on top of that.

Technically no,because 1 dollar is about 54p but there are 99p stores and poundland and everything's a pound.
