I live in Limavady in County Derry. It has 34,000 people living in it and the name comes from the Irish Gaelic meaning Leap of the Dog. That's an old legend about a local chieftain ... too long to go into.
This is where the tune for Danny Boy was written down by Jane Ross.
The River Roe (Rua...from the Irish meaning red) runs through the town.
It also has the Roe Valley Country Park, and is truly beautiful. |

Am in Devon, SW England, near the Cornish border, in an obscure village, miles from anywhere. No light pollution, noise, or crime. Utopia. |

Hey we don`t all live in cities.
Here`s an unusual town name for you - Uttoxeter - (where I live)...
(in ancient times - 1806 - it was called Wotocheshede!
which in old English meant Wuttuc`s Heath (old Wuttuc who lives near the heather).
Not a lot of people know that. |
