Many people do not believe that mozzies live in the UK but they certainly do and according to this 2002 report we could have Malaria carrying mozzies in our country by 2050...won't bother me then because I imagine I will be long gone!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1775427.stm

As you have been bitten you have my sympathy and I am sending you this ...

I lie awake waiting for you.
As I lie on my bed, thinking about you, I feel this strong urge to grab you and squeeze you, because I can't forget last night. You came to me unexpectedly during the balmy and calm night, and what happened in my bed still leaves a tingling sensation in me.

You appeared from nowhere and shamelessly, without any reservations, you lay on my naked body...

You sensed my indifference, so you applied your hungry mouth to me
without any guilt or humiliation, and you nearly drove me crazy while you drained me.

Finally I went to sleep.

Today when I woke up, you were gone. I searched for you but to no avail. Only the sheets bore witness to last night's events.

My body still bears faint marks of your enthusiastic ravishing, making it harder to forget you.

Tonight I will remain awake waiting for you...

Yes, there are mozzies in the UK and they are different from midges. Unfortunately as the climate changes, we are more likely to get these bugs that only lived in the Mediterranean areas previously. And it applies to our animals too.

Welcome to everyday life in Canada folks.

Col
Sounds like you have been attacked by the midge rather than a mossie . The midge is a name given to numerous minute species of flying, biting insects. The one which causes most problems is the Highland Midge, culicoides impunctatus , which is thought to cause about 90% of bites. For such a small creature (usually a few millimetres long) they cause a great deal of suffering. This time of year sees them in full attcking mode down the west coast of Scotland . If you are living south of the border could be something else . The midge is fairly territorial .

I live in North west England and at certain times of the year i can be some nights, eaten alive by the little beggars.

i live by marshland and swampland which they like to breed in, so they are rampant in this area.

Apparently there are over a dozen different species of mosquitoes in the Uk - or even more - some of which are capable of carrying malaria. When I was a child growing up in Canada I loved visiting England because there were no mosquitoes, black flies, deer flies etc.... Apparently with global warming the mosquitoes are making a comeback - malaria next....

use mosquito spray or use a mosquito net.

yes i get bitten aswell

I'm all fine in Southampton... no bites this year ^^
I guess yoor just unlucky?? Heh ^^;;
Maybe it depends on the weather in different parts of the UK... it's not been too hot here... and even though we've had really nice, hot days this summer, it's not been hot enough long enough to coaks them out I guess... ^^
Lucky us, huh??

Never was bitten in UK and lived there for years.Live in Canada now and get eaten alive every summer !!

You can get Mosquito and Midges btw different kinds of bug, but both bite

and yes even in foreign countries they come out during the late evening as they dislike the intense heat and as the UK is generally cooling down those stupid mosquito's tend to lurk around a bit more than usual!

It was the same last year

just use a repellent and try not to scratch the bites (hard i know) but they'll bleed and bruise more if u do!

Yes.
They always get me - I think they search me out and I come up in big lumps. If I am in a group of people I will be the only one who gets bit.
try taking vitamin B and eating garlic - they don't seem to like that.
