Best Pub name in the UK?

My favourite is the Drunken Duck near Coniston in Cumbria. A few Pubs were called the Black Swan, which the locals promptla renamed the Mucky Duck.

Bradford has a suburb named Idle. Yes, really. A pub there is called 'The Idle Cock'...... (as in rooster)

Also, there is (was?) a pub near Leeds called the 'HARK TO ROVER'. The pub was connected to a heart-rending story about a dog called Rover. Can't remember the story though - it's many years since I heard it.

But what a fascinating name for a pub!

I like the Slug and Lettuce for a name.

fivetoze
the open all hours tavern....

the glade... a wonderfull name, until you see it..theres no greenery whatsoever apart from the local skinning up.

the glasses are plastic, the tables are bolted to teh floor and folks get stabbed to death in the toilets... and the armoured glass wndows are broken from the inside where people have tried to throw others thru them...

and its our local... ive been in their twice. once on my 18th, as a sort of ritual... and once on my 40th... my 50th is looming, guess where im not going...

we also have the rat and coathanger; the leg and cramp. and until they bulldozed it, we also had 'the win-all' and the golden horse is only ever called the donkey... the live and let live in wood end... what a dodgy pub... and yes, at one time or another ive drunk in all of them...

One that I like is called "The Library". Its very close to Leeds Uni and is probably better populated than the actual Leeds Library where students are concerned!

I dont believe theWeapon of mass destruction exists, and if it does it should be shut down immediatley or raided in a joint operation between the British and American police.
