Hellothere

Best areas of Liverpool to live in?

Ok so I have some idea of which bits are to be avoided, but where is a cool place to live that's relatively safe in Liverpool?
Additional Details
I know to avoid Toxteth/Norris Green/Croxteth, anywhere else that should be avoided and has gangs etc?
Also what is the area just north of city centre like between city and Bootle, and Bootle itself?
What is Birkenhead like?

First I'll say don't let those riots of 1981 put you off Toxteth, as its reputation is much worse than the actual place nowadays. Certain parts are rough but the beautiful Georgian Quarter just outside the city centre is now a great place to live, being occupied by both students and professionals and those Georgian terraces are so beautiful. Also Princes Rd and the area of Toxteth around Princes Park is nice.

Other nice parts are Woolton, Allerton, Childwall, Aigburth, Gatacre, Mossley Hill and Hunts Cross to the South of the city. Crosby, Waterloo and Formby to the North and parts of West Derby are nice going towards the East. Overall, the south of the city is much nicer than the North. Also city centre living is cool but expensive.

Places to avoid in my opinion are Kensington, Norris Green, parts of Croxteth, parts of Tue Brook, Anfield and Walton, but again they aren't bad all over.

Basically Bootle and all surrounding areas are known to be rather rough, I wouldn't recommend any of these to live in.

AIGBURTH is quite nice, I used to live there for quite a while and never had any problems. It's close to Sefton Park if you're into jogging and it's easy to get into the town centre from.

WAVERTREE is what I belive to be a good budget option. Lived there as well, never been mugged on the street or anything but my house has been burglared three times over a period of six months. Apart from that - nice student area, loads of shops and restaurants and cheap.

MOSSLEY HILL from what I know is nice and quiet, probably more expensive then other areas in south Liverpool.

ALLERTON is nice as well. With it's Allerton Road you get all the restaurants, bars and shops you might need without going to the city centre. It doesn't cost the earth which is a good thing, too.

Now, if I were you I would steer clear of Kensington and Toxteth.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Childwall, Woolton, Aigburth, West Derby, Wavertree towards the Picton Clock .and the Penny Lane area in general. Mossley Hill, Calderstones. Allerton
Generally in Liverpool itself the southern areas are better within the borders of Liverpool. In my opinion the central areas of Birkenhead are worse than the worst of Liverpool.

Avoid the student accommodation area actually overlooking Sefton park

Like any large city you will get burglaries were people are vulnerable and in spite of it's reputation Liverpool is better than many. You will find that people rarely laugh at you they will laugh with you and you will find the average man in the street helpful. Changes are taking place so quickly at the moment particularly Hotel names and owners that sometimes people can get a little stumped

Kirkby is wonderful, lol,Birkenhead is a very violent,if you could afford it get out of the inner city areas and get up to Crosby, Wooltonand maybe Childwall but its difficult to say Liverpools like most other city's word of mouth and it helps if you know people in Liverpool

I agree with Allerton, Mossley Hill and Aigburth, but also try Woolton, Childwall and Gateacre, there's some very nice places there too, all have good access routes into town, parks, shops and major out of town stores reasonably close by.
