Hi there. For the most stunning scenery in Scotland, personally I would stick to the more mountainous areas. This starts generally at the Trossachs mountains near Stirling (Callander or Aberfoyle are lovely). As you go in the general direction of the North West, the Highlands and the Great Glen are there for the exploration. Try Oban from which you can explore the islands of Mull or Iona plus others, Fort William to Inverness will take in the atmospheric and historical area of Loch Ness for a bit of monster spotting! If you'd like to venture a bit further, up as far as Ullapool on the North West coast is also very beautiful with spectacular scenery and very quiet - not dead mind you.
If it is for a short break, then as previous contributors have mentioned, Loch Lomond is very beautiful, close to Glasgow, but worlds away in character, close also to Loch Fyne (famous for the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar serving excellent seafood), Inverary and Crianlarich the gateway to the Highlands.
My personal favourite, with good transport links is the area near and surrounding the Highland resort of Aviemore - particularly a small place called Coylumbridge which is close to the Rothiemurchus Estate (osprey and red squirrel site - also a wide range of outdoor activities if you so wish) and the Cairngorm mountains - great pubs, a wide range of accomodation and fine food to be had.
Not forgetting the East Coast of Scotland, starting with the East Neuk of Fife comprising of Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail, St Andrews and further North. With it's beautiful beaches and market towns, more of a 'rolling' type of countryside. A more sedate kind of scenery, stunning, but not as dramatic as the mountain regions.
Hope this is of some help to you. Enjoy, but don't forget the Midgie repellant!!!! Avons' Skin So Soft Lotion (the blue one) is recommended and used by the Army when training up here! |

Loch Lomond is lovely, the water is like glass and your not too far from shops/pubs etc. Great walks everywhere and the people are lovely. Just remember to wear a kilt - they are compulsory in Scotland! |

You can't go wrong with Loch Lamond but it's also beautiful here in the Scottish Borders. |

Hi there.
the many Scots of my acquaintance all agree that the area bounded by Loch Lomond in the south, Skye in the north and Glencoe in the east is the best place to be for the scenery.
Enjoy, Steve. |

I can quite recommend Loch Lomond, its is a beautiful part of Scotland. I stayed at the Watersedge cottage. It is jsut 21 miles north of the City of Glasgow but a completely different world away. The town of Luss is very close for the amenities. It is really quiet and should fulfill your needs. |

The old Customs and Excise House B/B Glencoe. Wonderful food, walks and scenery, we stayed two week.
The area is steeped in history, particular the account of the Glencoe Massacre of the Macdonalds.
You must visit the Black Water Dam (best viewed in torrential rain, windy with a little snow added to appreciate the book, we did) approach from Kinlochleven then read the autobiographical novel ‘Children of the Dead End’ by Patrick Macgil. A moving account of the building of the dam by the Irish Navvies. |
