Neither. Fried egg with soft, runny centre, makes all the difference.

brown

I used to say red - but now it is definitely brown.

Also a bacon sandwich works much better with white bread. The flavour of brown bread distracts from the flavour of the bacon and/or sauce.

Brown all the way - love that HP sauce

no sauce for me thanks

Red definitely. I once got totally shouted down for answering this same question in the work canteen with the answer 'mayonnaise' so I'll just keep that to myself this time...

A bacon sarnie is only a true bacon sarnie with BROWN sauce. Ketchup is for kids..its far too sweet for bacon.

wadeypops
No thank sauce spoils the taste of the bacon, although they are lovely with grilled fresh tomato.
Why is this in London category, we do est them in the North of England, although they tend to be call bacon butties.
Enjoy everyone who is now going to have to have one after this question. I can't no facilities to make one at work.
