I am a Japanese student, I'm going to stay in London for a month this spring.
When I buy a travel ticket, can I buy one by my credit card?
I use the VISA card in Japan.

I think, you can.

IC chip type (+ 4 digits PIN code) credit card is desired not only for buying the ticket but for all of payment in UK.

Also, you can book the ticket now in Japan by online.
see, below.

The train companies, underground systems and intercity coach companies accept visa cards as payment for tickets. Travel agents will also accept visa cards as payment for flights and holidays but will charge an additional 3% for accepting credit cards.

Kailee
Yeah that's fine. Yuu can use international credit cards to purchase them.

You can use VISA to purchase most forms of public transport tickets in the UK. Local buses require cash though. In London you can buy oyster cards with VISA which can be used on buses

firecat_mage
Yes you can, but only from a manned ticket office for trains and the underground. Bus passes depend on whether you get them from a local store and whether they accept cards.

Most major credit cards are accepted.

Enjoy your visit.

Yes you can. I buy one every month and if I am short on the old cash then that is the way that I buy them.

Mightymo
You should be able too. I use my Visa everywhere.

isabellla_piorachio
That is correct. My papa, always uses his american express and Visa.

Yes, you can. I suggest you buy an Oyster card, it saves you money. You can buy them from stations, shops or machines.
Look at the Transport for London website.
