This is an age-old question. We don't generally hate the English but the English attitude. On the supposedly British TV, it's England this and England that. And then at the end you get - And in Scotland...
Also, it's true, when English people are bad, they're British, but when they're good, they're English. The reverse applies to Scots.
Look at the UK weather. In Nottingham it will..In Sheffield it will...In Southampton it will...And in Scotland...
During the World Cup we had to get through about 45 minutes of Wayne Rooney to even hear a peep about the rest of the news
I could go on, but I've said it all before.
It's not jealousy. Why would we be jealous when we have such a beautiful country? |

the question should be is why do so many people hate the english i know why they cause so much trouble in other countries like football hooliganism and invading other people's countries for hundreds of years and they are big headed take for example the world cup they kept going on about winning the world cup and having the best team they were pathetic. The scottish people dont hate the english they just are very annoying and moan constantly about everything. |

What makes you think we do? You're not really being fair saying don't say we don't. We don't hate English people or England. The only thing is theres some rivalry thats shared on both sides considering the history over several centuries. I mean, look at the 5th verse of the national anthem about crushing the rebellious scots. I think its both sides though, there a conception that English people hate us Scots. I think its all paranoia.
And us Scots are renowned for being very friendly and welcoming. You ever been here? |

As a Scottish person I personally don't hate any English people at all, one of my good friends comes from England. If an English person done something wrong to me i would dislike them then, but that is true of anyone who does wrong to me. Whoever told you Scottish people hate the English is obviously very racist. |

I'm an English person who no longer lives in England, which gives me a slightly different perspective. I would agree that the Scots do seem to hate the English although that doesn't go for everybody. I suspect they hate what England represents, historically speaking. (Katz, please note Braveheart had very little to do with history and a lot to do with Hollywood brainwash for the gullable/ignorant Americans.)
But on a one to one basis, I doubt it would make a difference, unless of course the English person in question was one of the ignorant, beer swilling bigots that are currently swarming all over the Catalan countryside. |

I think it's allot to do with football. Scottish people get totally peeved off with all the English hype. When the world cup was on, it was a nightmare here! Everywhere you went it was all obnoxious English slating the Scottish. Whenever England were playing, Scottish TV gets flooded with England football programs like 'Shirts of '66' etc... who cares. Also if a English person gets in to trouble abroad, then they are classed as British, but if that person is Scottish they are Scottish and not British!!!! need I go on... |

It's sad isn't it really, i get very upset when there's live football games and they go to the scottish pubs and they always support the rivals. It's sad really, i've spoke to others about this and they say it must be jealousy but i can't understand it! |

Take a look at about 400 years of war and opression, sneakyness and backstabbing.
The welsh are as bad, England deserve it for alltheir nastiness in the past, it is deeply ingrained in the conciouness and the culture.
Saying that, why do they live/holiday here and still complain.

my daughter was in a snooker chat forum and their was Scottish people on line and they were very rude and racist against the English saying we are thick and abusive with weapons so my response would be that they are very ignorant people so yes i would agree Scottish people do hate English people |
