No, unless the EU allows something, the stamps on posted letters havve to match the country in which they are posted. Years ago, my wife and I exchanged letters between Italy and Thailand while she traveled in Italy and I was in the Army and she wrote via UPO and Italian mail and the american air letters she carried from the states could not be mailed in Italy - she would have had to get Italian air letters (and actually sent postcards, buying postage for them.) |

Do you mean "to post a letter to a destination outside the UK" or "to post a letter from a place outside the UK"?
Theoretically, you shouldn't use UK first class stamps for the former, unless they show their prices (ie not part of a book of stamps) and the total of the stamps comes to or is in excess of the correct fee. However, by concession, letters are usually delivered even if this is not the case.
However, you certainly shouldn't use UK stamps if you meant the latter of the two |

Poviding the letter meets size & weight regulations. Best to get the letter weighed at post office. |

Question seems somewhat anbiguous ! You cannot stick on UK stamps to post if you are in a country outwith the UK . You CAN stick on 1st Class stamps to post from the UK to another country. A first class stamp has a faced value of 36 pence .If you post a post card to Europe or anywhere in the World sick on 2 stamps ( face value 72 pence ) . Same for a normal letter to Europe but for outside Europe and more than 10 grammes stick on 3 stamps ! First or Second Class only applies to articles posted to places in the UK Other places in EU including Spain they are sent AIRMAIL - even Southern Ireland ! |

Well, if you mean can you mail a letter with UK stamps if you are not in the UK ....but, in another country....the answer is no: you must purchase and use the stamps of the country where you are posting the letter.....otherwise, how would their post office department be properly paid for their services ??? |

You can use UK First Class and Second Class stamps as part payment on letters posted from the UK TO other countries.
However, you can't use UK stamps on letters that you intend to post FROM a country other than the UK. You would have to use stamps issued by that country. |
