Bute Park, behind Cardiff Castle, is one of the best city parks anywhere in the world.
Castel Coch can be reached on the 132 bus which leaves central station every twenty minutes. You do have to pay to get in though.
Go down the Bay & see the Doctor Who exhibition & try Cadwalader's ice cream on Mermaid Quay. Your tastebuds will love you.
Potter round the arcades. You're sure to find something that takes your fancy.
Enjoy! |

Obviously it depends on your interests, but I'd recommend spending some time walking round the centre, including the civic centre (see photos - http://www.freefoto.com/preview.jsp?id=1054-01-5&k=The+elegant+neo-classical+edifices+of+Cardiff+Civic+Centre). The National Museum of Wales is here and well worth a quick browse (since it's free) - http://www.freefoto.com/preview.jsp?id=1054-01-5&k=The+elegant+neo-classical+edifices+of+Cardiff+Civic+Centre.
Cardiff castle is quite impressive, but you might not have time for a full tour - see details here - http://www.cardiffcastle.com/ The grounds are really nice and you can enter the part behind the castle without paying.
That's almost opposite the Millennium Stadium, which is worth a look. Tours are apparently very good (I haven't done one, but I've been to several matches here) - see here for details if that interests you - http://www.millenniumstadium.com/3473_3523.php
I'd also recommend you spend a bit of time in Cardiff Bay - http://www.cardiffbay.co.uk/ It's a regenerated area with lots going on and is great place just to wander round.
You'll find plenty of info here: http://www.visitcardiff.com/What-to-Do-and-See/Attractions-in-Cardiff.html |

Well, there are a few things you can do, you could browse around the shops, take a trip to cardiff castle, the museum, visit cardiff bay and go ice skating, or a stroll around the bay, and see the wales millenium centre-maybe you could book a show
see whats on...
www.wmc.org.uk
Also there is a brewery 1/4 where you can grab some food, there is a selection of restaurants including thai food, a mexican style place and lots more.
Enjoy your afternoon in cardiff! |

What makes "Castell coch" an odd name!? It means Red Castle -- and that's what it is: a castle made of sandstone, which is reddish.
I doubt you'll have time for that though. Cardiff castle is quite nice if you're into castles. Otherwise, certainly the bay and the millennium centre shouldn't be missed. |

any chance of getting out of cardiff..?! the rather oddly named Castle Coch is stunning - a pure fairytale castle (google it for pics) - straight out of sleeping beauty. just outside cardiff - you'd prob need some kind of transport - doubt it would be on a bus route but i might be wrong.
o'wise 45 mins away is swansea - you can go to the gower and see some of the most fab coastlines, or even mumbles (great place names..) is lovely. i grew up in swansea so i'm biased - its gorgeous. cardiff would be shopping i guess.
but have a great time!

I live in caerphilly 8 miles from cardiff, and the only sights in my view worth seeing, are the Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagans, Cardiff, and the Museum of Wales in Cathays, cardiff. Cardiff castle and Caerphilly Castle are interesting to. See below. |

Depends what you want to see - museum and castle are good, bay is worth a visit, especially if it's sunny. Shopping is great, but they are in the process of re-building the shopping centre.
Enjoy your afternoon |

Castell Coch ( named because of the sandstone it's built with) is beautiful. Well worth a trip. It's just outside Cardiff in a pretty little village called Taffs Well. In Cardiff itself? The shopping centre is pretty big. Mary street has so many bars and eateries you'll be spoilt for choice. You could visit the museum, castle, park, indoor market and the Bay is stunning. IUt's recently had a makeover and has really nice bars and views of the marina. |
