Use the tube and plan ahead! Try not to go back and forth across town, instead, use a map and go in a circle... |

OPEN TOP BUS AND SEE EVERYTHING then go back to some of those places you liked on foot or tube |

Use buses! Do not use the tube - it is dark and dirty and hot and confusing.
You can use the Transport for London journey planner (http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en) to find out how to get from one place to the other by bus before you get here. Alternatively try one of the open top bus tours that you can get on and off of. They stop at places like Baker Street, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament.
One day might not be enough. Check out a map and choose the places you most want to see carefully.
Have fun and keep your children and belongings with you at all times! |

not the cheapest but the quickest, taxis. Buses and tubes are very busy, (squashed) at peak times, push bikes are the other alternative.
Given your destinations, you could walk it.
Enjoy. A. |

Quickest will be by underground (avoid rush hour where possible), but scenic would be by London bus. Either way enquire at the station to which you arrive about cheap travel. It might be cheaper to buy group travel cards. And it will be cheaper and quicker still if you apply for oyster cards. I believe you can do this on line, check out Transport for London website. Maybe you will be able to download an underground map and maybe a bus route map.
Any I agree with LoobyLou on the safety tips she has given. London is a great city and poses no threat if you are sensible and organised. |

If you have any children under 11, they can travel free on the Tube. There are a couple of tourist buses that you can get on with not only take you to all the sights that you want to go to, but also offer discounts for entry to certain locations. The Original Bus Company is one open top bus you can get on. Also you can get a boat from Tower Pier (next to Tower of London) which takes you to the Houses of Parliament. Hope this helps. |

Tube - the District Line services all three places - Tower Hill for the tower, Westminster for Parliament, and South Kensington for the museum. It'll be crowded and busy, but so long as you keep your kids close by you, you'll be fine. |

A one day travel card costs £15, which will allow you to use the tube, bus, and train around London. If you're going on the cheap, go to the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square (it's not a stop on the underground, but ask around and you can get there easily!), which has amazing art, as well as a separate portrait gallery. Get a map for the adults and make sure the kids wear the same shirts (if you're separated, it'll make things easier!). I hope you enjoy your stay! |

get a one day travel card, you can use this to get on the tube and buses, including the open top ones.
most public transport in london is safe for families, just watch out between 8-9am and 4-6pm, as that is rush hour and it is a NIGHTMARE!. other than that you will be fine!
enjoy london |

To get to London - try booking a cheap ticket with (http://www.megatrain.com) if you can as it will save you loads.
If you spens about £25 at TESCO you can get a few free vouchers for London attractions - ask at Customer Services.
Once in Lonson: get a one day travelcard for the tube (Zones 1&2 for Central london).
Plan your day as much as you can. Bring drinks with you and maybe snacks as touristy places can charge the Earth for food.
Make sure you know where you are going beforehand and try and carry some maps just incase but don't flash them about:
Make sure the children where some distinctive clothing so you can spot them easliy - maybe a colour coded backpack or same colour t-shrits.
And the usual - don't keep your valuables on show - make sure you keep all valuables safely tucked away from pick-pockets and try not to look too much like tourists (easy targets).
Hope it helps :) |
