Moon :)

Do English people still eat that wonderful English breakfast ;) ?

Or do most people, these days, prefer a healthier or a quicker option?

I'm just curious...I'm Brazilian and lived in London for some time, years ago. I love (and miss) English breakfasts! :)

Thank you for your answer and have a wonderful weekend! :)

I can't speak for all Englishmen (and women), nor for the other inhabitants of these British isles, but I still very much enjoy our English breakfasts, usually on Sunday. While I'm sure modern Britons eat healthier breakfasts (even I do so on weekdays), the traditional English breakfast is a welcome treat for many of us. Like all good things, however, it must be consumed in moderation.

In case you're curious, my own Sunday breakfast consists of 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages (the square Scottish ones when I can find them), 2 potato scones (again, the Scottish influence), 2 slices of fried toast with butter, fried tomatoes, a cup of tea and a glass of juice (usually grapefruit). I eschew the traditional kippers and have cut back on the bacon, though I sometimes substitute it for the sausages.

Right-o then, I think I'm ready for my English breakfast now!

I like them too, as well as the 'Ulster Fry', Northern Ireland's equivalent. But the Full English Breakfast is becoming less popular, largely for health reasons. There was a story on the BBC a few years ago. You can read it below.

But they'll still be available when you return to England.

I'm Canadian, but my ancestry is British, I love bacon, eggs, and fried tomatoes with HP sauce on the side. I skip on the fried bread though!

Yes, people still eat the full English breakfast or, as I like to call it..........HEART ATTACK ON A PLATE!

For those of you who don't know what constitutes an English breakfast, it usually consists of the following:

Kippers (which are smoked herrings - very salty)
Fried Eggs
English sausages
Rashers of bacon
Fried Toast (in case there isn't enough fat in all the above!)
Baked Beans
Fried Mushrooms
Fried Tomatoes

England is cold in the winter and I think this kind of breakfast came about when people still mostly worked outdoors - it certainly sends you off with a glow!

Porridge was another great filling start to the day (and my Dad always added brown sugar to the middle when it was first served so the sugar would melt into it!)

I would have to say pretty much any breakfast eaten in England would be an English breakfast. no matter how icky it may be.
