Do I need my passport if I am driving into wales from the UK?

My passport is currently with the Home Office, as I am getting my permanent residence. I dont want to ask them to return it as it will delay the process. Thanks

No. Wales is part of the UK though a sign denotes the border. There's no checkpoints or anything.

shortbreadtin
Ohforgodsake - if you've been here long enough to get permanent residence you should know the answer by now.

dave

No. You don't need a passport to travel between England, Wales or Scotland. They are all in the UK. :-)

JoJo
No. Just get on the M4 west of London and it takes you all the way into Wales. Otherwise you get a train from St.Pancras.

No of course you don't! It may be classed as another country, but they don't need passports or anything

Razzle
no you just need your rabies shots and a lot of luck pronouncing the place names.

Andy
No, you don't need a passport, though I would suggest you have your head examined first.....

No, but you do need a visa.

Wales is in the UK, by the way!

CK
You won't need a passport getting into Wales from the UK.

However, you may have trouble getting back as we (UK) don't let people from Wales back in unless we really have to.

This has gotta be a wind up...hey you guys!!!
So permenant residence is given to people who quite clearly know nothing at all about our country!!!

Eli
No you do not need a passport as you are already in the UK. To get to the UK from the United States you would need a passport unless you had another way of proving you were a United Kingdom resident or Visitor :)

Getting out of Wales is the problem

They do not like to let anyone go who was foolish in the first place to arrive there.

Just make sure you call the nice policeman Taffy and sure as hell he will think you are a local and let you past border control.

Anyone caught with a sheeps leg in the boot of the car is classed as a sheep baron.
Just make sure you have removed the wellies from the leg, or they may also think you are a local.

All good fun, up the Taffs.
