Yes, we have accents and you will probably be immediately identifiable as an American when you talk. Don't worry about it.

An average American does talk in a certain way, especially if you are from the south, or from Boston, and or Minnesota areas, they especially have accents for their region of the United States. As for you though, being from Los Angeles, they probably will be able to tell your an American, but not know exactly where you're from.

Yes you will be recognized as an American. There are a number of accents in the US and we can generally tell them ourselves. When you go abroad, even to England or Scotland you will stand out with your Southern California accent - it can be a good and bad thing though.

You will definitely stand out when you talk. Not only that, but they will probably know just by looking at what you wear that you are probably an American. I was in England a few years ago and I did my best to try to fit it because I didn't want to look like a stupid tourist, but as soon as I opened my mouth I was sold out. And don't even try to fake the accent, you will be made a fool of.

Just be sure to see the sites early, get to the pub around 5 or 5:30 because they close at 11 and the pubs are the busiest right after work. And don't expect to find any great food. If you are in London, the best place I found to eat was called Truc Vert, it was just south of Oxford street about 4 or 5 blocks east of Hyde Park.

Absolutely.
The Compton clang, LAX tags, mall materialism, plastic credit nouveau riche, & suntanned look talks quite enough.

Ya, they will know because you don't talk like them. I guess you could call it an accent...

People in England speak "queen's english"; we speak "american english"; yes their is a major diff. and they will be able to tell. No worries though, its not a foreign language so we all understand each other. :) And not everyone in America has the same accent either, diff. states and sometimes even diff. cities have their own accents or slang words, its like that for every country though.

Julie
I was on a gaming/chat site the other day. A young American woman was chatting to an older English female. The American woman said that she loved the British accent and she wished she, herself, had an accent.

I couldn't help but jump in and exclaim - to someone from England, you DO have an accent lol

Everybody in the world has an accent, they just dont think so because they are, generally, surrounded by people who sound like they do.
And yes, they will know immediately thet you aren't an England native lol. Just like you would know if someone from Georgia was talking to you. :)
