Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... Thanks for this question. it made me smile. no we do not value our pets over our children, although we do love our pets! and to just clarify any other myths about us brits.......no we don't always drink tea, we don't all know the queen, we don't all talk like mary poppins and we don't all have castles and horses. we don't all have bad teeth and we don't all eat fish and chips! so now you know x x x x x |

Have you ever met a British child? |

No This is a classic ignorant stereotyping of us Brits.
We love our children 100% and nothing comes between them and us, but where you confuse the issue, is that we don't accept the ill treatment of any animal and that obviously includes pets. We don't abuse them or shoot them even when they get old. We treat them with respect, as with all God's creatures.
I hope this helps you with your delemer.

Of course not! What a strange idea - it is true that Britain is a nation of animal lovers and produces many fantastic nature documentaries but I can't think of any (sane) person I know who prefers pets to children. My boss at work has ten dogs, a horse, a lizard, various small mammals and some fish but she is obviously takes more pride in the achivements of her kids than her pets.
My mother used to allow the cat in the hiuse but when the cat began to act strangly towards my baby sister the cat was never allowed in the house again.
There probably are a few loons who prefer their pets but these are a sad minority. |

Most of the time. My dog doesn't steal my food, answer back, come home late or ask for anything other than a walk.
It doesn't tell my wife that I have been to the pub, that I was chatting up a neighbour, or I gave it my dinner, so she would not be offended.
It doesn't nick the bath water, steal my razor blades, borrow my shirts or ask for a lift in the car home, when I am watching a TV programme.
Having that, my son doesn't crap in the back garden, so that I have to scoop it up, so I guess it is about even!

Not generally. Although I have known people who do, sadly. Then there are people who have pets instead of children possibly because they can't have children so they spoil their pets and treat them like children. I know one lady who clothes her puppy and gives it everything but she loves her son too, I am sure if she had to choose, she would choose her son!
But there are silly things like that you get more harshly punished for hurting an animal than a child. |

One visit to a dogs home after Xmas will give you the answer to that. |

Well, I am very close to my dog...but having no children I cannot comment personally. Sadly I know of some people who are obsessed by their animals to a point where it is not kind to the animals, the people or their families. |

Why the British???? We British love our children alot and anyone would put their children before their pets, it is because of genes, the genes will to survive means that parents love their children and will do anything for their children to survive, Parents DO NOT have a genetic bond with thier hamster or cat so dont feel the same Way
And Why would British people be any different Whatsoever? |

I hate to say it but this is an idiotic and prejudice question. The British are no different to any other culture in that some love animalls and children, some love one and not the other and some love both. Whichever it is there is no love stronger than the bond between the parents and their children. Animalls are beautiful creatures and I always say I should have had another dog instead of a child, but I would never swap my son for any dog and neither would any other loving parent |

Well i have to say there are some folk that do and there are some that don't. I think you will find it's the same the whole world over. Why not start talking to some of us Brits? You will find we come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. |

Are you asking this because of the ROYAL society for the protection of animals and only NATIONAL society for children?
Anyway. This really is a stupid question!
However, apparently, in England, it's better not to say anything about the neighbour's dog because the dog is always right! I don't know if that's true or not. But they do love animals, which I think is a good thing. |
