That depends. Do you want raunchy ones? Bad ones? Or just regular ones people use everyday?
A gender bender is a transvestite. To gozz is to spit.Grebby is like gross..
You might like to know that 'Gumby' is the word for a hick, so if anyone calls you one, watch out.
Also, an emmet is a tourist... It's not a really positive thing.
I like karzy a lot: It's the lavatory toilet: the loo. Loo means the lavatory, in case you didn't know.
If someone says 'knob off' it means to go away.
If you're friendly, you're pally. A backhander is a bribe. Um.. Batty is like totally crazy. Our telephone is called the bell, sometimes.
Cheers is like 'thank you'. |

I'm struggling here. I'm British :P and can't think of any more American terms...
Oh and BTW, most of us Brits don't say half the stuff Americans seem to think we do.

good answers, but a lot of these aren't really used as much as many americans think. for example, although the word 'bathroom' is usually only used to refer to a room with a bath; if you're talking about the toilet you would be more likely to just say 'toilet' than 'loo' or 'lav'. and most of the ones listed above (except the ones for food) are only used informally and mainly in the north of england, especially the ones referring to sex.
many american terms have become common parlance in england and the rest of britain anyway, and people will certainly understand you if you use american words here. |

Well there is the *Buttie* which is basically a sandwich. My fav is a chip buttie - - ok for all of us on this side of the ocean - that would be a french fry sandwich - best made with home made french fries (fresh cut potatoes), seasoned with salt and vinegar and then put in buttered bread. YUMMY!!!!
(ok ok ok - I know I'm a lowcarber and this is like a carbs on carbs meal - but its also a comfort food for me when I need it - I grew up on it lol) |
